Scott Seiver Wins 2011 WPT Championship

Hats off to the World Poker Tour.

Since The Events of 4/15TM, theyve held two events in the U.S. Both exceeding industry entrant expectations. The latter of the two, the 2011 WPT Championship, even brought in 25 more players than last years event. At the same time, they held a $100,000 buy-in event that two months ago seemed very me-too-ish and wouldve come on the heels of the first ONYX Cup, but instead brought in 29 elite players and awarded a $1M+ prize.

/preamble. Scott Seiver added to his already impressive young resume by capturing the WPT Championship. For the win, he banks $1,618,344. Seiver defeated the old man at the table, Farzad Bonyadi ($1,061,900), heads-up for the title.

In third was 2011 PCA Main Event winner Galen Hall ($589,355). While not reflected yet, we hear the 3rd moves Hall into 1st (past Erik Seidel) in Bluff Magazines Player of the Year rankings.
