Amaya Plans Launch of Mobile Games Platform
Amaya Gaming Group, one of Canada’s leading gambling groups, announced today that it would be introducing its first online casino games that will be compatible with mobile and tablet devices.
The new games selection will be introduced by the second quarter of this year and will include some of the group’s most popular slot games such as Dragon 8′s, Lost Temple – which has 1024 ways to win – and Bars and Bells.
The Amaya mobile gaming platform will also include a mobile live dealer product which will be developed thanks to the firm’s partnership with Ho Gaming.
Amaya is working with Ho Gaming to develop a mobile version of its live dealer roulette, baccarat and blackjack, and will be the first in the market to develop these games for tablet users.
Vice president of business development for the group, Darcy Krogh said about Amaya’s launch of mobile games: “Amaya recognizes that mobile gaming is fast becoming a standard as more players demand the convenience of portability in igaming.”
He said that Amaya Gaming was excited to be the first provider to deliver a mobile Live Dealer product, which would complement the group’s comprehensive selection of mobile slots, table games and lottery games.
“Combined with our monthly release of quality online casino games, this demonstrates our continued commitment to provide our customers with the best casino games and platform on the market,” he said.
Amaya Completes Purchase of Cryptologic
Early this month, Amaya made a formal bid to purchase the Irish-Canadian casino software specialists, Cryptologic for €27 million.
Before the bid, Amaya already owned 7% of Cryptologic and was seeking to complete the deal to own the group in its entirety.
Cryptologic is the developer of superhero and movie-themed online casino games, particularly slots. The group licenses these branded games to other online casino groups, including big names such as Paddy Power, Betfair and Ladbrokes.
Microgaming announce plans for Batman slot game
Microgaming may well have been the first software development company to branded slot games Tomb Raider being the first one that springs to mind but since then, they appear to have been overtaken by Playtech who have secured a number of agreements with popular movie franchises such as Rocky, Gladiator and, more recently, The Mummy.
However, it would seem that things are about to change somewhat with Microgaming announcing a licensing agreement with DC Entertainment the holding company
In fact, its the Dark Knight which is believed to be the first super hero to be turned into a Microgaming Slot with the software development company now able to develop games around specific movies such as The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight rises, which is due to hit cinemas in July and is widely expected to be the biggest film of the year.

Ontario Poised For New Casino

BC Holding Responsible Gambling Awareness Week
British Columbia will be holding its very first Responsible Gambling Awareness Week, beginning on January 14th. The campaign will be held in Vernon, BC and will run until January 20th, 2012.
According to the organizers of the Responsible Gambling Awareness Week, their goal is to raise awareness of responsible gambling practices in the province and across Canada, and, if necessary, to connect problem gamblers with community services and support groups.
Speaking for the Social Planning Council, Annette Sharkey said that the community needs to educate people on how to gamble responsibly.
